Statement issued by MEA |
The Standoff began on 16th June when the Chinese troop started building a road on the Doklam pleateau. Indian soldiers immediately rushed to the spot to stop the Chinese Army, triggering the worst military tension in decades with China. The Conflict saw 300 soldiers from each side, confronting each other in the Doklam pleateau.
The Ministry of External Affairs on Monday announed "expeditious disengagement of border personnel" signalling that the standoff at the trijunction has come to an end. Indian sources said that China has removed bulldozers and are withdrawing their troop.
The Doklam Resolution comes days ahead of a summit of the BRICS nations which is scheduled to begin on 3rd September, which PM Modi is expected to attend.
