WORLD HABITAT DAY

   

 Hello Friends, Welcome all to my page. Today 2nd October is widely celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti in India as well as across the Globe. So wishing you a very Happy Gandhi Jayanti to all of you, celebrate it peacefully and with love, the way Gandhiji taught us to live. In 2007 the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution which declared 2nd October as International Day of Non-Violence. But most of us don't know one thing that today 2nd October 2017 is also World Habitat Day. 

     The United Nation has designated First Monday of October every year as World Habitat Day. Today, being the first Monday of October, World Habitat Day is also celebrated all around the world. It was first celebrated on 1986.

       Every Year, a new theme is taken on World Habitat Day to bring attention to the UN-Habitat's Mandate to promote sustainable development policies that ensure adequate shelter for all. The Theme for World Habitat Day 2017 is "Housing Policies: Affordable Homes. 

      The objective to celebrate this day is to reflect on the state of our towns and cities and the basic Human Right to adequate shelter. It also intends to show that it is our collective responsibility to create a safe and healthy environment for all of us, and to shape the future of our cities and town for the future generation. 

     We should work together in making the object of this day fulfilled by making use of environment friendly things, thus making life of our future generation safer and better.
