The United Nation has
designated First Monday of October every year as World Habitat Day. Today,
being the first Monday of October, World Habitat Day is also celebrated all
around the world. It was first celebrated on 1986.
Every Year, a new theme is
taken on World Habitat Day to bring attention to the UN-Habitat's Mandate to
promote sustainable development policies that ensure adequate shelter for all.
The Theme for World Habitat Day 2017 is "Housing Policies: Affordable
Homes.
The objective to celebrate this
day is to reflect on the state of our towns and cities and the basic Human
Right to adequate shelter. It also intends to show that it is our collective
responsibility to create a safe and healthy environment for all of us, and to
shape the future of our cities and town for the future generation.
We should work together in
making the object of this day fulfilled by making use of environment friendly
things, thus making life of our future generation safer and better.
