The Government of India has made the
linking of Aadhaar card mandatory with the PAN card. The government has
extended the deadline for linking Aadhaar-PAN from 31st August 2017 to 31st
December 2017. Linking Aadhaar-PAN is also mandatory for filing Income Return
for the Assessment year 2017-18. If the linking is not done, then the return
filed will be considered invalid and the person will have to fill a return
again which be a belated return.
I have seen people
spending ₹20 - ₹50 in getting their PAN linked to Aadhaar. So, why should we
waste money on those thing which can be done by ourselve without spending a rupee
and it also don't require much time. It's a simple process and everyone can do
it on their own.
I will explain you
how you can link your Aadhaar in 3 simple steps.
STEP 1 : Go to Income Tax Website
Go to Income Tax Website www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in and
click on the option "Link Aadhaar" in the left hand hand side of the
page.
STEP 2 : Provide details that are asked
As you will
click on "Link Aadhaar" option a page will open asking you the
following details :
(i) PAN No.
(ii) Aadhaar No.
(iii) Name as per Aadhaar
(iv) I have only year of birth
in Aadhaar Card (Select this option if you have only birth year in your Aadhaar
card, otherwise leave this option blank)
(v) Captcha Code (A six letter
Alpha-Numeric code will be given there, you just have to see it and type as it
is)
STEP 3 : Link Aadhaar
After you have filled in the
above details, check the details once as a single mistake here can put you in
trouble. Now, click on "Link Aadhaar" option in the bottom of the
page.
You will now see a message on
your screen "Aadhaar-PAN linking is completed successfully".
Now, your Aadhaar is linked to
your PAN.
